Domaine Charvin is a family estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape whose wines have earned a cult following among Rhône enthusiasts for their exceptional concentration and ageability. The domaine is run by Laurent Charvin, who took over from his father Gérard and has progressively moved toward organic viticulture. The core Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is sourced from old-vine Grenache—averaging 60–80 years—grown on galets roulés, the large rounded stones characteristic of the appellation's most celebrated sectors. With 161 lots traded at an average of $60 and the 2005 vintage representing the peak trading year, Charvin's Châteauneuf is considered exceptional value relative to its peers: Parker-era critical scores on the 2003, 2007, and 2010 reached 96–100 points, yet auction prices have remained well below flashier Châteauneuf-du-Pape names. A second wine, the Côtes du Rhône Rouge, averages $90 across 19 lots—unusual in that a second label outpaces the main wine, reflecting select lot configurations.
