Domaine de Marcoux is a biodynamic Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate run by Sophie and Catherine Armenier, farming around 20 hectares of Grenache-dominant vineyards across multiple terroirs in the appellation. The estate's flagship is the Vieilles Vignes cuvée, sourced from parcels of Grenache planted in the 1900s and 1920s, producing wines of extraordinary concentration from yields as low as 10 hl/ha. Vieilles Vignes dominates the auction record: 103 lots averaging $176 per bottle with the 2007 vintage most traded and prices reaching $1,476. The standard Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge averages $55 across 53 lots. The overall auction average of $135 across 156 lots reflects the premium that the Vieilles Vignes commands. Wine Advocate has awarded the VV 96–100 points in exceptional vintages including 1998, 2000, 2003, and 2007, cementing the estate's position as a Châteauneuf benchmark. The Armenier sisters are committed biodynamic farmers who transitioned the estate in the mid-1990s, and the quality improvements that followed coincide with the estate's critical ascent. Marcoux is frequently cited alongside Rayas and Vieille Julienne as producing the appellation's most compelling old-vine Grenache.
