Domaine du Pegau
Domaine du Pégau is one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's most characterful and uncompromising estates, run by Laurence Féraud and her father Paul with the same biodynamic farming philosophy they have maintained for decades. The Cuvée Réservée — the regular bottling — is one of the appellation's most reliable expressions: rich, concentrated Grenache with garrigue, leather, and spice from old vines. The Cuvée da Capo is produced only in exceptional years from the oldest vines and is considered one of Châteauneuf's greatest wines, appearing in only about half of vintages. The estate's style is firmly traditional: whole-cluster fermentation, large old casks, no new oak, long maceration, and minimal intervention that produces wines of remarkable authenticity and terroir character. Both white and rosé wines are also made. At auction, Pégau is among the most collected Châteauneuf estates after Rayas and Beaucastel, with Da Capo from its rare declarations commanding prices that reflect the extraordinary quality and minuscule production of this prestige cuvée.

In the Glass
Pégau's Châteauneuf is powerful and earthy: Grenache-dominant with garrigue, leather, dried fruits, black olive, and the distinctive animal complexity of old-vine traditional winemaking. The Cuvée Réservée is generous and reliable; Da Capo adds extraordinary concentration and complexity in its rare appearances.
