Elderton
Elderton is a Nuriootpa estate winery in the Barossa Valley, established in 1984 by Neil and Lorraine Ashmead and now run by their sons Cameron and Allister. The estate's flagship Command Shiraz — from old bush vines planted in 1894 on the Ashmead block — is one of the Barossa's landmark bottlings. Command is produced only in top vintages at around 3,000 cases, ensuring significant secondary market interest. At auction, 137 lots have traded at an average of $64, ranging from $15 to $221. Command Single Vineyard Shiraz dominates at 105 of 137 lots with an average of $67. James Halliday has awarded Command Shiraz five stars in multiple editions of his Australian Wine Companion, and Robert Parker scored several Command vintages in the mid-to-high 90s. The 1894 plantings are among the oldest continuously producing Shiraz vines in the world.

In the Glass
Old-vine Barossa Valley Shiraz of extraordinary depth and concentration: dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, smoked meat, and Christmas spice from 130+-year-old bush vines. Command Shiraz adds remarkable texture — dense and viscous but lifted by the natural acidity of aged vines. E Series is more accessible with fresh dark fruit and mocha. The portfolio is overwhelmingly Shiraz-focused and expresses the warmth and generosity of the Nuriootpa floor.
