Keller

Weingut Keller is Rheinhessen's most internationally celebrated estate, founded by Klaus Keller in Florsheim-Dalsheim and now run by his son Klaus Peter Keller — widely regarded as one of Germany's greatest living winemakers. The estate's Grosses Gewachs Rieslings from the Dalsheimer Hubacker and Westhofener Kirchspiel vineyards have achieved cult status since the early 2000s, with multiple vintages receiving 100-point scores from Parker's Wine Advocate and Jancis Robinson. G-Max, a single barrel selection from the estate's oldest Riesling vines, is among the world's most sought-after wines — produced in fewer than 300 bottles per year, with auction prices regularly exceeding EUR 1,000 per bottle. At auction, 132 lots have traded at an extraordinary average of $293, ranging from $14 to $2,375. Von der Fels (entry-level Riesling Trocken) leads volume at 50 lots averaging $53; Hubacker GG averages $292 across 42 lots; Kirchspiel GG averages $303 across 18 lots. The $2,375 ceiling almost certainly reflects G-Max. Keller's wines are allocated exclusively on a mailing list; obtaining allocation is among Germany's most competitive wine requests.

G-Max, a single-barrel selection from Keller's oldest vines, is produced in under 300 bottles annually; it has received 100-point scores from multiple critics and commands auction prices exceeding $2,000.
Dalsheimer Hubacker GG averages $292 at auction across 42 lots, and Westhofener Kirchspiel GG averages $303 across 18 lots — among Germany's highest per-bottle averages for GG Rieslings.
Klaus Peter Keller's wines are allocated exclusively via mailing list — one of Germany's most competitive allocations — making auction essentially the only secondary market source for all bottlings.
The 132-lot auction average of $293 is extraordinary for a Rheinhessen estate; Keller has shifted international perceptions of the region from a bulk wine source to a world-class Riesling appellation.

In the Glass

Rheinhessen Riesling Trocken and Grosses Gewachs of extraordinary precision and depth: Von der Fels shows citrus zest, stone fruit, and clean mineral austerity; Hubacker GG adds smoky limestone complexity, white peach, and a saline finish; Kirchspiel GG delivers more floral aromatics and fine chalk minerality. G-Max is of incomparable density — almond oil, yellow peach, petrol, and a spine of electric acidity. All wines reward 15-30 years of cellaring; great GGs last 50+ years.
