Salon
Salon is one of Champagne's most unique and collectible estates — a blanc de blancs house that produces wine from a single vineyard in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger only in declared years, resulting in some of the rarest and most sought-after Champagnes in the world. The house was created by Eugène-Aimé Salon in 1911, who had the radical idea of producing a single-vineyard, single-vintage, single-variety Champagne when blending across villages and varieties was absolute orthodoxy. Today Salon is owned by Laurent-Perrier and produces wine only in exceptional vintages — roughly two-thirds of years — with only about 50,000 bottles made in each declared year. The wine spends a minimum of ten years on lees before disgorgement, emerging with extraordinary autolytic complexity and the precise mineral tension of Mesnil Chardonnay. Only 40 vintages have been declared since the first in 1905, making each bottle genuinely rare. The hallmark of Salon is its incredible combination of mineral precision, citrus, and chalky depth, with a structure that enables 40+ years of aging. At auction, Salon is among the most collected Champagnes, with great vintages such as 1996, 1997, and 2002 commanding prices that reflect its singular status.

In the Glass
Salon blanc de blancs is the most precise and mineral Champagne: electric citrus, white peach, chalk dust, and autolytic brioche on a structure of almost architectural tension. Young vintages are extraordinary; aged examples from the 1970s–1990s are among the greatest wines ever made.
