Sineann

Domaine Saint Préfert is a small Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate farmed by Isabel Ferrando, who has emerged as one of the appellation's most thoughtful and quality-focused producers since taking over the family domaine in the early 2000s. The estate farms approximately 14 hectares, including parcels of old-vine Grenache, Clairette, and Bourboulenc, producing both the regular Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge and the prestige white-wine cuvée Réserve Auguste Favier — named for Ferrando's grandfather who established the domaine and planted the oldest vine material. The Auguste Favier blanc, produced from Clairette vines exceeding 80 years of age, is the estate's most celebrated wine and a benchmark for traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc from aged indigenous varieties. At auction, 112 lots average $69 per bottle — modest — reflecting the estate's accessible production scale and relatively low international profile despite consistently strong critical scores. The Auguste Favier blanc trades at $80–$130 for top vintages; the regular rouge at $40–$60. Isabel Ferrando's farming approach is certified organic, with a strong focus on soil health, dry-farming, and old-vine preservation that produces the low natural yields characteristic of traditional Châteauneuf without irrigation supplements. Wine Advocate has awarded 93–96 points to the Auguste Favier across multiple vintages. Rosback's approach of building direct relationships with growers rather than owning vineyards allows him to respond quickly to market and vintage conditions, adjusting his sourcing each year to produce the most interesting possible single-vineyard selection.

Sineann's Peter Rosback sources from as many as 30 different vineyards across Oregon and Washington annually, producing a wide range of single-vineyard bottlings that collectively document the Pacific Northwest's vineyard diversity.
Yates-Conwill Vineyard Pinot Noir, one of Sineann's most consistent Oregon lots, is sourced from a Willamette Valley site with Jory volcanic soils — the same red clay geology underlying the Dundee Hills' most celebrated Pinot Noir producers.
Resonance Vineyard, another of Sineann's Pinot Noir sources, has since become the home vineyard of Louis Jadot's Oregon label, establishing its status as one of the Willamette's premium single-vineyard sites.
Average auction price of $15 per bottle across 111 lots is the lowest in this database, reflecting Sineann's retail positioning under $40 for most wines and the absence of collector-tier premiums despite consistent quality at the price point.

In the Glass

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from Jory volcanic soils: red cherry, cranberry, dried rose petal, and earthy forest floor with the natural acidity and medium body typical of the Dundee Hills and adjacent sites. Washington Cabernet (Phinny Hill, Baby Poux) shows richer dark fruit and firmer tannins from the Columbia Valley's continental climate. The Gewürztraminer and Gruner Veltliner add aromatic variety — lychee and white pepper, respectively. The range is food-driven and accessible throughout.
