About Bollinger

Bollinger was founded in Aÿ on 6 February 1829 as Renaudin Bollinger by Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Renaudin and Jacques Bollinger. Bollinger was a German-born merchant who had trained at Muller Ruinart, and he married into the Villermont family. His grandsons Joseph and Georges took over in 1885, bought vineyards in nearby villages and secured a royal warrant from Queen Victoria. Later, Jacques Bollinger and his wife Lily built up the house further. The family still runs Bollinger, and its own vineyards of about 160 hectares are planted mainly to Pinot Noir. The range includes Special Cuvée, Grande Année, R.D. and the rare Vieilles Vignes Françaises.
