About Krug
Krug was founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a butcher's son from Mainz who had spent eight years at Champagne Jacquesson, learning blending as well as the books. His son Paul established it as a grande marque, and the house moved in 1866 to the Rue Coquebert premises it still uses. Jeanne Krug kept it going during the First World War while Joseph Krug II was a prisoner; the 1926 and 1928 vintages earned lasting praise. Henri and Rémi Krug widened the range from the 1960s. Rémy Cointreau sold the house to LVMH in 1999. Its core wine is the multi-year blend Krug Grande Cuvée.
