Bevan Cellars is a small Napa Valley producer founded in 2007 by Russell Bevan, a self-taught winemaker who built an immediate reputation through high-scoring, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignons sourced from benchmark Napa vineyard sites including Tench Vineyard, Harbison Vineyard, and others in Oakville and Stags Leap. Parker scored the Bevan Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 100 points for the 2012 vintage — an extraordinary achievement for a debut decade producer — and followed with 98–100 points for multiple subsequent vintages. Bevan also produces Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir (Desmond Vineyard), and Chardonnay alongside the flagship Cabernet wines, creating a broader portfolio than most Napa micro-producers. The Proprietary Red is the most accessible entry point, while Tench and Harbison Vineyard represent the single-vineyard collector tier. With 552 lots averaging $106 per bottle, Bevan occupies a mid-tier position at auction despite the 100-point scores — the brand is newer and less established in the secondary market than older names like Harlan or Screaming Eagle. The Ontogeny blend sits between the Proprietary Red and single-vineyard wines in both price and complexity. Bevan has attracted significant attention from Asian wine buyers, contributing to strong auction results at Hong Kong and Singapore specialist sales.
