Chateau Belair-Monange
Château Bélair-Monange is a Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate on the limestone plateau adjacent to Ausone, owned by the Moueix family (also responsible for Pétrus) since 2008. The estate was formerly known as Château Bélair and had a long track record under négociant Jean-Pierre Moueix before full ownership transferred to the family. The Moueix acquisition brought investment in a new winery, deeper understanding of the plateau limestone soils, and winemaking support from the Pétrus team. The single wine—Bélair-Monange Saint-Émilion Grand Cru—generates all auction activity: 376 lots at $145 average, with the 2004 vintage most-traded. Prices peak at $2,151. The estate benefits from its immediate proximity to Ausone and the plateau's distinctive blue clay over limestone, producing wines of notable freshness and terroir specificity for the appellation. Since the Moueix renovation, recent vintages like 2015, 2016, and 2018 have attracted higher scores and stronger auction interest than earlier releases under the old ownership.

In the Glass
Saint-Émilion plateau Merlot-dominant blend: fresh red cherry, iron-rich minerals, plum, graphite, and dried herbs on a medium-full body with a distinctive chalky limestone finish. The Moueix era has brought greater precision and freshness relative to the older extraction-heavy style. Wines are elegant for the appellation—more Ausone in character than Pomerol—with excellent aging potential of 15–25 years.
