Chateau Faugeres
Château Faugères is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé estate elevated to Grand Cru Classé status and located on the plateau and slopes of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes. The property, long owned by the Guisez family, was acquired in 1987 by Corinne Guisez and has since undergone significant investment in both vineyard and cellar. In 2012, Silvio Denz—owner of Château Péby Faugères and glass manufacturer Lalique—acquired the estate, funding construction of a striking gravity-flow winery designed by Mario Botta. The château works primarily with Merlot (70–75%), supplemented by Cabernet Franc, from 35 hectares of clay-limestone soils. All 175 auction lots represent the Château Faugères Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion, averaging $49 with the 2003 vintage the most traded. The tight $14–$80 price range indicates consistent but modest auction performance typical of mid-tier Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé estates. The estate also produces the premium micro-cuvée Péby Faugères from ultra-old-vine Merlot, which operates as a separate property and auction entity. Château Faugères represents reliable Right Bank quality with excellent vintage accessibility.

In the Glass
Château Faugères is a classic Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé in style—Merlot-dominant with ripe plum, black cherry, mocha, and vanilla from new oak aging. Clay-limestone soils contribute a distinctive earthy mineral note. Tannins are generous but rounded, making the wine approachable at 5–7 years while retaining structure for 15-year cellaring in excellent vintages such as 2010 and 2015.
