Chateau Haut-Marbuzet
Chateau Haut-Marbuzet is an unclassified Saint-Estephe estate on the gravelly Saint-Corbian plateau, owned by the Duboscq family since 1952 and operated today by Henri and Bruno Duboscq. The estate is one of Saint-Estephe's most consistently admired Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnel, regularly outperforming many Crus Classes in blind tastings, and remains one of the few major Saint-Estephe properties to use 100% new French oak barrels for all vintages. At auction, 137 lots have traded at an average of $57, ranging from $17 to $363. All 137 lots are from a single wine — the chateau bottling — without a second label. The $363 ceiling captures magnums or older vintages from benchmark Saint-Estephe years including 2000, 2005, 2009, and 2015. Parker consistently awarded Haut-Marbuzet scores in the 89-95 range, with exceptional years receiving 96-98.

In the Glass
Saint-Estephe with a distinctive 100% new oak signature: blackcurrant, cedar, dark plum, vanilla, and espresso, with the firm, structured tannins characteristic of the appellation's gravelly plateau soils. Merlot adds mid-palate richness; Cabernet Sauvignon provides the structural backbone. Young wines are dominated by oak; with 10-15 years, they integrate beautifully, developing tobacco, leather, and dried herb complexity. A classic Medoc aging wine.
