Continuum

Continuum Estate is a Napa Valley project founded in 2005 by Tim Mondavi and sister Marcia Mondavi Borger following the sale of Robert Mondavi Winery to Constellation Brands in 2004 — a deliberate act of re-establishing the Mondavi family's personal winemaking identity independent of the corporate transaction. The estate is planted on Pritchard Hill above Napa Valley, adjacent to Colgin Ann Colgin, BOND, and other premium hillside producers. Pritchard Hill offers volcanic, iron-rich soils at elevations between 1,600 and 1,900 feet — terroir that produces Cabernet Sauvignon with the tannin structure and natural acidity to age for decades. The flagship Continuum Proprietary Red Blend is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend with Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot, typically earning critical scores of 94–98 points and averaging $210 per bottle across 276 auction lots. The 2015 vintage is the most traded year. A second wine, Novicium, averages $265 across just 7 lots — a premium over the flagship reflecting its extreme scarcity and production as a single-vineyard selection from Pritchard Hill's steepest blocks. Price peaks of $1,135 reflect large-format bottles and the most critically acclaimed vintages. Total portfolio activity spans 283 lots averaging $212, positioning Continuum firmly in the ultra-premium Napa collector tier alongside Screaming Eagle, Harlan, and other hillside properties with comparable scores and production scales.

In the Glass

Continuum is a structured, Pritchard Hill Cabernet blend: blackcurrant, black olive, iron-volcanic mineral notes, and dark plum with cedar and tobacco from French oak aging. The tannins are firm, polished, and angular — mountain Napa rather than valley-floor plush. Cabernet Franc contributes violet floral lift and graphite; Petit Verdot adds spice and ink. The style requires 8–12 years to open and rewards 25+ years of cellaring. Power and precision in equal measure.
