DeLille Cellars

DeLille Cellars is Washington State's pioneering Bordeaux-variety estate, founded in 1992 in Kirkland by Chris Upchurch, Jay Soloff, Greg Lill, and Charles Lill. The winery was among the first in Washington to focus exclusively on Cabernet Sauvignon-based blends in a Left Bank Bordeaux style, drawing from vineyards across the Columbia Valley including Red Mountain and Yakima Valley. The flagship Chaleur Estate—a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc—is the most-traded wine at 79 lots averaging $61, with the 2002 vintage representing the auction peak. The D2 second wine averages $41 across 49 lots (1997 top vintage), offering a more accessible entry into the DeLille style. Harrison Hill single-vineyard Cabernet from Red Mountain averages $76 across 12 lots, with the 2004 vintage most traded. Grand Ciel Cabernet Sauvignon, from Red Mountain's Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, averages $95 across 9 lots. Chaleur Blanc—a Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blend—averages $30. Across 173 lots at an average of $56, DeLille has built a 30-year auction track record that reflects both historical significance and consistent quality for Washington Bordeaux blends.

DeLille Cellars was founded in 1992, making it one of Washington State's earliest dedicated Bordeaux-blend producers with a 30+ year auction track record.
Chaleur Estate is the most-traded wine at 79 lots, with the 2002 vintage the most sought-after—a benchmark year for Washington State Cabernet-based blends.
Harrison Hill and Grand Ciel single-vineyard wines command the estate's top auction prices ($76–$95 average), sourced from Red Mountain's prestigious Ciel du Cheval and Harrison Hill sites.
DeLille produces a Left Bank Bordeaux-style portfolio (Chaleur Estate, D2, Four Flags) alongside single-vineyard Cabernets without straying into single-variety or New World varietal styling.

In the Glass

DeLille's style is consistently Bordeaux-inflected: cassis, black cherry, dried herb, and cedar frame the structured but polished palate. Chaleur Estate adds plush red fruit and spice from Merlot's contribution. Harrison Hill and Grand Ciel from Red Mountain are more tannic and mineral, built for longer cellaring. Chaleur Blanc offers a Loire-inspired take—crisp Sauvignon Blanc aromatics softened by Sémillon's weight and texture.
