Domaine de la Vougeraie

Domaine de la Vougeraie is a Burgundy estate assembled by the Boisset family starting in 1999, consolidating vineyards previously held across multiple properties including Domaine Prieuré-Roch and other family holdings. The estate now manages approximately 37 hectares spanning the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, including grand cru parcels in Charlemagne, Mazoyères-Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, and Clos de Vougeot, as well as the historically important Vougeot Premier Cru Les Cras. Biodynamic viticulture has been practiced estate-wide since 2000. The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is the most-traded wine at 44 lots averaging $157, with the 2005 vintage most frequently appearing. Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin each average above $200, reflecting grand cru pricing. The Corton-Charlemagne averages $178 across 23 lots (2013 top vintage), and the Beaune Premier Cru Clos du Roi—an estate monopole in all but name—averages $112. Across 174 lots and an average of $152, the estate sits at a meaningful price step below the Côte de Nuits' elite names while offering breadth of grand cru exposure rarely found in a single producer. The price ceiling of $861 represents exceptional Clos de Vougeot back vintages.

In the Glass

Vougeraie's reds show the hallmark of biodynamic farming: intense, precise fruit expression with a vibrancy that reads as both modern and terroir-faithful. Clos de Vougeot is opulent and spice-tinged with dark cherry, violet, and earthy clay notes. The Charmes and Mazoyères-Chambertin are more aromatic and silky. Corton-Charlemagne is structured, mineral, and age-worthy—green apple, chalk, and toasted almond building to a long finish.
