Domaine Duroche

Domaine Duroche is one of Gevrey-Chambertin's most compelling small producers, a family estate run by Pierre Duroche — the fifth generation — who assumed full control in 2006 and rapidly elevated the domaine into the upper tier of Gevrey specialists. The estate holds parcels in Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Latricières-Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, and four premier crus including Cazetiers, Lavaut Saint-Jacques, Estournelles Saint-Jacques, and Aux Gémeaux. The Clos de Bèze averages $886 per bottle across 30 lots, with 2018 the most-traded; Latricières averages $633 across 26 lots; and Charmes averages $421 across 25. Even the village Gevrey-Chambertin 'Champ' at $77 average demonstrates the estate's value across tiers. At $338 overall average across 314 lots, Duroche is priced in the serious collector range — below Rousseau and DRC but in the same tier as Dugat-Py, Trapet, and Rossignol-Trapet. Pierre's approach uses whole-cluster fermentation, minimal sulphur, and gentle extraction, producing wines of aromatic precision and longevity that have earned critical scores in the 94–98 point range from the mid-2010s onward.

Domaine Duroche's Chambertin-Clos de Bèze averages $886 per bottle across 30 auction lots, with the 2018 vintage — widely regarded as Gevrey's finest modern-era year — the most frequently traded.
Pierre Duroche took full control in 2006 and within five vintages transformed the domaine's reputation, shifting to whole-cluster fermentation and minimal sulphur to produce wines of greater aromatic complexity.
The estate holds grand cru parcels in three of Gevrey's most revered lieux-dits: Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Latricières-Chambertin ($633 average), and Charmes-Chambertin ($421), covering the full range from power to finesse.
Even the village-level Gevrey-Chambertin 'Champ' averages $77 per bottle — higher than many premier crus from other Côte de Nuits communes — reflecting the Duroche name's impact on pricing across the entire range.

In the Glass

Duroche Gevrey wines are defined by aromatic purity and silky-yet-structured Pinot Noir: red and dark cherry, dried rose, iron mineral, and whole-cluster spice on the nose with tannins that are firm but never aggressive. The Clos de Bèze is the most profound and powerful; Latricières is more austere and mineral; Charmes is the most immediately fragrant and plush. Village wines resolve within 3–5 years; the grand crus need 8–15.
