Domaine Jacques Carillon

Domaine Jacques Carillon was established in 2010 when the historic Louis Carillon estate split between siblings — Jacques taking the white wine parcels and Louis Carillon (and his sons) retaining other holdings. Jacques Carillon had been winemaker at the family domaine for decades before this separation. The resulting estate focuses almost exclusively on Puligny-Montrachet, with village-level Puligny and three Premier Cru sites: Les Perrières, Les Referts, and Combettes, plus the crown jewel, a tiny parcel of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. At auction, the estate averages $247 per bottle across 126 lots, with prices ranging from $66 to $1,195. The Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet commands the highest prices and is the most auction-sought cuvée. Jacques Carillon's direct experience at the original domaine and the prestige of the Puligny-Montrachet terroir drive steady auction demand. The domaine was among the first post-split releases to establish a strong following, with the inaugural 2011 and 2012 vintages quickly becoming collector pieces.

Domaine Jacques Carillon was created in 2010 following the split of the historic Domaine Louis Carillon et Fils, with Jacques taking the white wine-focused parcels.
The Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru commands auction prices up to $1,195 — the most valuable wine in the portfolio and one of Puligny's Grand Cru parcels directly adjacent to Bâtard.
126 lots average $247 per bottle, reflecting the consistently high quality of Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru and Grand Cru white Burgundy.
The estate's inaugural 2011 and 2012 vintage releases were immediately sought after by collectors tracking the split from the original Louis Carillon domaine.

In the Glass

Jacques Carillon's Puligny-Montrachets are precise, mineral, and elegant: white peach, lemon cream, chalk, and hazelnut with a fine linear acidity that defines the appellation. Les Perrières is the most mineral and austere; Les Referts adds more weight; Combettes is more floral. The Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet delivers Grand Cru richness and length with impeccable balance.
