Domaine Joblot

Domaine Joblot is the undisputed benchmark of Givry, established by Charles Joblot after the First World War and developed through successive generations to become the Côte Chalonnaise's most acclaimed red wine producer. Charles's son Marc began estate-bottling in the late 1960s, and Marc's sons Jean-Marc and Vincent forged the domaine's modern reputation from the 1970s onward — Jean-Marc as winemaker, Vincent in the vineyards. Of the estate's 14 hectares, nine are classified Premier Cru, including the two most prestigious plots in Givry: Clos du Cellier aux Moines and Clos de la Servoisine. Jean-Marc, one of the few Burgundy vignerons of his era to hold a formal oenology degree, combined scientific training with an organic approach: manual soil management, avoidance of synthetic products from the 1980s, and careful selection in the cellar. Hélène Sarkis has managed the property since 2021, maintaining the terroir-expressive style. At auction, Joblot Clos du Cellier aux Moines and Clos de la Servoisine represent some of Burgundy's best value, trading at $45–$120 per bottle.

Nine of Domaine Joblot's 14 hectares are classified Premier Cru — an unusually high proportion for any Burgundy estate — including Clos du Cellier aux Moines and Clos de la Servoisine, the two most revered sites in Givry.
Jean-Marc Joblot, who trained as an oenologist in the 1970s when most Burgundy vignerons learned only on the job, has avoided synthetic products since the 1980s — a de-facto organic approach that preceded formal certification trends by two decades.
Brothers Jean-Marc and Vincent Joblot divided responsibilities naturally for decades: Jean-Marc in the cellar, Vincent in the vines. Their complementary expertise is widely credited with Givry's transformation from a minor appellation into a serious Pinot Noir destination.
Hélène Sarkis took over management in September 2021, continuing the domaine's commitment to hand harvesting, parcellary vinification, and old-vine Pinot Noir expression that has made Joblot synonymous with premium Givry.

In the Glass

Joblot wines are the most elegant and structured expressions of Givry Pinot Noir — more precise and mineral than many neighbours, with the appellation's characteristic cherry, earth, and subtle mineral note expressed with uncommon clarity. Clos du Cellier aux Moines is the most serious and age-worthy, showing dark fruit, iron, and a firm tannic backbone that benefits from 7–10 years in bottle. Clos de la Servoisine is more aromatic and approachable, with floral lift and silky texture.
