Giovanni Rosso is a Serralunga d'Alba Barolo estate founded by Giovanna and Davide Rosso, producing wines exclusively from the powerful, tannic Serralunga d'Alba sub-zone of Barolo — considered by many the appellation's most structured and ageworthy terroir. The estate focuses on single-vineyard Barolo: Cerretta (the primary expression), La Serra, and a standard Serralunga Barolo, plus the Ester Canale Rosso — a Nebbiolo in a more approachable style named after a friend of the family. Serralunga d'Alba sits on Helvetian era soils (older and more compact than the Tortonian soils of La Morra), producing Barolo with tighter structure and greater aging demands. At auction, prices average $75 per bottle across 120 lots, with the range from $24 to $369 reflecting the Cerretta MGA at the premium end. Davide Rosso's wines have attracted critical attention from the Wine Advocate (scores of 93–96) and Vinous for their purity and Serralunga character.
