Lokoya is Napa Valley's premier mountain Cabernet Sauvignon estate, established by Jess Jackson of Kendall-Jackson in 1995 to produce single-mountain-appellation Cabernets from four of Napa's most distinctive elevated sites: Diamond Mountain, Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, and Spring Mountain. Each bottling is labelled with its mountain AVA, providing a rare comparative study of Napa's volcanic-influenced elevated sites against a consistent winemaking approach. Christopher Carpenter, who joined the estate in 1997, has crafted wines that earn extraordinary critical acclaim: multiple vintages of all four mountain Cabernets score 97–100 points from Parker, with the Diamond Mountain and Mount Veeder particularly celebrated. The Mount Veeder Cabernet, from serpentine and volcanic soils at 1,200–2,000 feet, regularly earns 100 points. With 527 lots averaging $261 per bottle, Lokoya is firmly positioned in the ultra-premium Napa tier — competitive on price with Sloan and Tuck Beckstoffer while offering something those estates cannot: a direct mountain AVA-vs-mountain AVA comparison from the same producer across four bottlings. Production of each wine is small — typically 500–800 cases — ensuring genuine secondary market scarcity.
