Mollydooker is a McLaren Vale-based Australian wine brand created in 2005 by former winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis, who previously worked at Fox Creek and Marquis Philips. The brand is built entirely on high-scoring, hyper-ripe Shiraz targeted at the American market through Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, which gave the debut 2005 Velvet Glove 99 points—an overnight catapult into cult status. The winery's signature 'Marquis technique' involves spinning the juice during fermentation to maintain colour extraction while reducing bitterness. At auction, Carnival of Love Shiraz is the most-traded wine (181 lots, $99 average, 2006 peak) while The Velvet Glove commands the highest price ($178, 117 lots, 2006 best). The 2006 vintage is the most-sought across both labels, corresponding to Parker's highest scores. Prices reach $492 at auction. The Enchanted Path Syrah-Cabernet ($56, 19 lots) and Two Left Feet blend ($30) provide accessible entry points. Secondary-market interest has moderated somewhat since the peak Parker era but remains active for the core Velvet Glove and Carnival of Love labels.
