Perrot-Minot is a Gevrey-Chambertin domaine that emerged as a significant Burgundy producer following Henri Perrot-Minot's departure from his father's estate in the 1990s and expansion of holdings through well-timed purchases. The domaine farms approximately 11 hectares including grand cru parcels in Chambertin, Mazoyères-Chambertin, and Clos de Vougeot, premier cru Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau, and various village Vosne-Romanée and Gevrey. The Vieilles Vignes cuvées — produced from the estate's oldest vine blocks across appellations — are the primary auction lots and most celebrated expressions of the house. At auction, 112 lots average $201 per bottle, reflecting a portfolio anchored by serious premier cru and grand cru wines from Chambolle and Gevrey that attract a growing international collector audience. Critical reception is strong: the 2005, 2010, and 2015 Chambertin and Mazoyères earned 95–98 points from Allen Meadows and Wine Advocate, driving secondary-market premiums. Henri Perrot-Minot practices low yields, significant whole-cluster fermentation (40–60% depending on the vintage), and aging in predominantly new French oak for the grand cru tier — an approach emphasizing density and concentration over classic Burgundian fragility. The domaine has become a significant collector target since the mid-2000s, with allocation increasingly difficult. The 2016 MX To Kalon earned 98 points from Wine Advocate, placing it alongside other top To Kalon expressions from Schrader and Realm in that benchmark vintage and confirming the estate's place among the vineyard's finest producers.

MX sources exclusively from Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard's Oakville benchland — the most expensive and celebrated single-vineyard site in California — where access requires multi-vintage contracts with fruit priced at $5,000–$8,000 per ton.
To Kalon's approximately 89 Beckstoffer-owned acres on Oakville's western benchland sit on deep Bale clay loam over alluvial gravel, producing Cabernet Sauvignon with unmatched concentration, structure, and historical record of 20–40 year aging.
The 2016 MX To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon earned 98 points from Wine Advocate and trades at $280–$350 per bottle at auction, consistent with other small-production To Kalon Cabernets from producers such as Realm, Schrader, and Continuum.
Annual production of 200–400 cases across all lots makes auction the primary access channel for most MX buyers; the mailing list is extremely short and waitlisted, ensuring consistent secondary-market demand and minimal price pressure.

In the Glass

Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon: cassis, dark cherry, graphite, and dark chocolate anchored by the vineyard's signature dense, structured tannins and extraordinary concentration. The deep alluvial benchland soils produce full-bodied Cabernet with natural acidity from the Oakville microclimate's diurnal temperature swings. French oak aging (18–20 months, 75–85% new) adds cedar and spice. The wines are built for 15–25 years of development and are closed and tannic in their first decade.
