Querciabella

Sineann is an Oregon winery founded by Peter Rosback in the early 1990s, producing a wide range of single-vineyard wines from both Oregon's Willamette Valley and Washington's Columbia Valley using purchased grapes through long-standing grower relationships built over three decades. The portfolio includes Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley sites — Yates-Conwill, Resonance Vineyard — alongside Washington Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, Gruner Veltliner, and the estate's signature Abondante Red blend. Rosback produces as many as 30 different wines in some vintages across varieties and appellations, documenting Pacific Northwest vineyard diversity in a way few producers attempt. The wines are generally well-priced for their source quality; at auction, 111 lots averaging just $15 per bottle is the lowest average in this batch and reflects the modest retail price points of Sineann's production, most of which retails under $40. Sineann's most collectible lots — Resonance Vineyard Pinot Noir and single-vineyard Washington Cabernet — occasionally earn 90–93 points from critics. Resonance Vineyard has since become the home estate of Louis Jadot's Oregon label, confirming its status as a premium Willamette site. The estate's wide portfolio breadth and accessible pricing position it firmly in the enthusiast market rather than the collector tier, serving buyers who prioritize variety and value over prestige.

Querciabella completed its biodynamic certification in 1988 — one of the earliest in the Chianti Classico zone — combining Steiner-based agriculture with a fully vegan winemaking approach that avoids all animal-derived fining agents.
Camartina, a Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend from the Ruffoli estate vineyard in Greve, earned 97 points from Wine Advocate for the 2006 vintage and consistently trades at $120–$200 per bottle for top years at auction.
Batar — an oak-fermented Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc blend — is among Tuscany's most respected white wines, produced from high-altitude Chianti Classico vineyards in a rich, structured style that rewards 8–12 years of cellaring.
Querciabella's third wine, Palafreno, is a pure Merlot produced in small quantities from the Greve estate, earning 91–94 points and trading at $60–$90 at auction — Tuscany's equivalent of a micro-production varietal Right Bank Bordeaux.

In the Glass

Camartina's Sangiovese-Cabernet blend bridges Tuscan and international styles: sour cherry, tobacco, dried herbs, and cassis with moderate tannins and Chianti's characteristic high acidity. Batar's Chardonnay-Pinot Blanc delivers hazelnut, white peach, and vanilla from barrel fermentation, with a rich, full-bodied texture uncommon in Tuscan whites. Palafreno's pure Merlot shows plum, chocolate, and velvet tannins. All wines are dry, structured, and built for medium-to-long-term aging from the high-altitude biodynamic farming.
