Seavey
Seavey Vineyard is a small Conn Valley estate in the eastern hills of Napa Valley, owned by William and Mary Seavey since 1979. The property is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon on hillside soils that produce structured, mountain-influenced wines. The estate Cabernet Sauvignon is the primary auction wine (90 lots, $119, 2013 peak), while the Founders' Reserve ($195, 16 lots, 2014 peak) represents the prestige tier. The Caravina label ($71, 16 lots) and a Merlot ($66, 10 lots) complete the range. The Founders' Reserve commands a significant premium—about 64% above the estate bottling—reflecting its selection from the best barrels in exceptional years. Total auction activity of 354 lots at $124 average and prices reaching $478 position Seavey as a quality Conn Valley Cabernet collectible with a modest but dedicated following. The 2013 and 2014 vintages are the most active in the database, corresponding to two celebrated Napa growing seasons.

In the Glass
Conn Valley hillside Cabernet Sauvignon: blackberry, cassis, iron, cedar, and herbs on a firm, angular tannic frame with good natural acidity from the elevated vineyard position. Mountain influence shows in the wines' austerity and tannic grip relative to valley-floor Napa. The Founders' Reserve adds greater concentration and deeper fruit; all wines need 8–12 years to fully integrate. Merlot shows plum and dark chocolate with a softer texture.
