Torbreck
Torbreck is one of the Barossa Valley's most celebrated boutique estates, founded in 1994 by David Powell on the belief that the region's ancient, low-yielding Shiraz vines deserve wines of the highest possible quality. Powell named the estate after Torbreck forest in Scotland where he worked as a lumberjack before returning to Australia to pursue his winemaking dream. The flagship wine RunRig — a blend of Shiraz and Viognier from ancient Barossa vines — rapidly became one of Australia's most collectible wines, receiving near-perfect scores from Robert Parker and commanding prices that rival Grange. The estate sources fruit from Barossa vineyards planted in the 1850s–1880s, including some of the oldest Shiraz and Grenache vines in the world. The portfolio also includes The Laird (a single-barrel old-vine Shiraz), Descendant, Les Amis, and the accessible Woodcutters series. David Powell sold the estate in 2013 to a consortium but the commitment to old-vine Barossa Shiraz has been maintained. At auction, RunRig remains one of the most traded Barossa wines, with early vintages from the late 1990s particularly prized for the extraordinary quality of those founding years.

In the Glass
Torbreck RunRig delivers classic Barossa grandeur: dense blackberry, plum, dark chocolate, and pepper, with the exotic floral lift of co-fermented Viognier, and the extraordinary structural complexity that only very old vines can provide. Rich, concentrated, and built for long aging.
