Two Hands is one of the Barossa Valley's most prolific and commercially successful producers of ultra-premium Shiraz, founded in 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz with the explicit goal of making wines from the finest old-vine Shiraz parcels in Australia. The estate rapidly established itself with a range of single-vineyard and district bottlings under the 'Garden Series' and prestige 'Flagship Series', gaining significant critical acclaim from American critics. The flagship Ares comes from a single hectare of 100-year-old Bush Block Shiraz vines in the Barossa Valley and has consistently been among Australia's most praised wines. Other key wines include Bella's Garden (McLaren Vale) and Gnarly Dudes (Barossa). The focus on old-vine Shiraz across multiple South Australian regions — Barossa, Eden Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley — gives the portfolio unusual breadth.
