Trimbach

Maison Trimbach is one of Alsace's most historic and internationally respected producers, a family estate founded in 1626 and now in its 13th generation under Frédéric and Pierre Trimbach. The house is celebrated above all for Clos Sainte Hune — a 1.67-hectare monopole in the Rosacker Grand Cru producing what many critics consider the world's greatest dry Riesling. The wine is made from a single small parcel of old vines, aged for three years before release in tiny quantities, and evolves magnificently over 30–40 years. Trimbach's Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile, from grand cru sites Geisberg and Osterberg, is also considered a benchmark. The house style is dry and austere by Alsace standards: minimal residual sugar, high acidity, and a focus on mineral transparency that prioritises finesse over immediate richness. The négociant range is extensive, but the prestige wines — Clos Sainte Hune and Frédéric Emile — are what drive auction interest. At auction, Clos Sainte Hune is among the most sought-after French white wines, with magnums and large formats particularly prized given the wine's extraordinary aging potential.

In the Glass

Trimbach Rieslings are the driest and most austere in Alsace: crystalline mineral intensity, citrus zest, white peach, and petrol with rapier acidity and virtually no residual sugar. Clos Sainte Hune is the pinnacle — extraordinary concentration and mineral complexity that develops over 30+ years.
