About Chateau Angelus

Château Angélus, called L'Angélus until 1990, is a Saint-Émilion estate owned by the Boüard de Laforest family. The family's holding began with the Mazerat domain, inherited in 1910, and grew with the purchase of Clos de L'Angélus in 1922. The name refers to three Angelus bells that can be heard from the vines. Hubert de Boüard joined in 1976 and modernised the estate, introducing new oak in 1980. It became Premier Grand Cru Classé B in 1996 and A in 2012, then withdrew from the classification in 2022. Cabernet Franc makes up almost half the vineyard. The second wine is Carillon d'Angélus.
