About Chateau Rayas

Château Rayas is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate worked by the Reynaud family since 1880. Jacques Reynaud ran it until his death in 1997, when his nephew Emmanuel took over, and the family has continued it since Emmanuel's death in 2025. Its 13 hectares face north and lack the large rounded stones typical of the appellation. The estate had no electricity until the late 1980s. Its methods are unusual: only Grenache for the red, very low yields of about 15 hl/ha, and ageing in rare 450-litre casks. The white is made from Grenache Blanc and Clairette. The second wine is Pignan.
