About Chateau Troplong Mondot

Troplong Mondot is a Saint-Émilion estate on the Mondot ridge next to Château Pavie. In the 18th century it was part of the De Sèze property, which also took in what is now Pavie. The Mondot family assembled much of the land in the mid-19th century, and Alexandre Valette acquired it in 1936. It was long little known, but its reputation rose in recent decades, helped by work with Michel Rolland. The 33-hectare vineyard is about nine-tenths Merlot. It is ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé B, and since 1985 it has made a second wine, Mondot.
