About Domaine Georges Mugneret Gibourg

Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg in Vosne-Romanée dates from 1933. Dr. Georges Mugneret, an ophthalmologist from a winemaking family, ran the vineyards alongside his medical practice and in 1953 bought a few rows at the top of the Clos Vougeot slope. When he died in the late 1980s, his widow Jacqueline chose not to sell; their daughter Marie-Christine left a career in chemistry to learn winemaking and Marie-Andrée completed her oenology studies, and the sisters now run the estate. The La Colombière vineyard later came back to the family when a long sharecropping lease ended. Ruchottes-Chambertin, Echezeaux and Clos Vougeot head a Pinot Noir range of about twenty acres.
