About Graham's

Graham's began in 1820, when William and John Graham, Glasgow textile traders, accepted 27 pipes of port in settlement of a debt. They took up the port trade, built a lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia and in 1890 bought Quinta dos Malvedos in the Douro, among the first port shippers to own vineyards there. Andrew James Symington began working for the Grahams in 1882, and in 1970 his grandsons bought the struggling firm. The Symingtons revived Malvedos, which they had to buy back in 1982, and added Quinta do Tua in 2006. Graham's is best known for Vintage Port, alongside Six Grapes, LBV and single-quinta Malvedos.
