About Luciano Sandrone
Luciano Sandrone came from a family of carpenters in La Morra; an allergy to sawdust led him to the Borgogno winery at seventeen, and he later became cellar master at Marchesi di Barolo, staying until 1990. In 1978 he bought a small parcel in Cannubi Boschis and made about 1,500 bottles in a garage under the family home. His brother Luca joined in 1992 to run the vineyards, and the estate grew to 67 acres across Barolo, Serralunga d'Alba and Roero. From 2013 the Cannubi Boschis wine was renamed Aleste after his grandchildren. Luciano died in January 2023; Luca and daughter Barbara now lead the winery.
