About Quilceda Creek

Quilceda Creek was founded in Snohomish, Washington, in 1978 by Alex and Jeanette Golitzin. Alex, a nephew of the Napa winemaker André Tchelistcheff, produced one barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon annually as a hobby between 1974 and 1977 and, encouraged by his uncle, opened the commercial winery; its first vintage, 1979, was 150 cases. His son Paul became director of winemaking in 1993. The winery sits west of the Cascades, but its fruit comes from four estate vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills and Red Mountain AVAs, trucked about 200 miles overnight. It was the first American wine from outside California to earn a 100-point Wine Advocate score.
