Archery Summit

Archery Summit is a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir estate established in 1993 in the Dundee Hills, one of Oregon's most celebrated sub-appellations for Pinot Noir. The estate covers approximately 120 acres across multiple estate blocks, including the flagship Arcus Estate, Renegade Ridge, Looney Vineyard, and Red Hills Estate. The domaine operates from an underground cave system winery on the Arcus Estate. Archery Summit was founded by Gary and Nancy Andrus — who previously established Pine Ridge Winery in Napa — bringing Napa Valley investment instincts to Oregon Pinot Noir production. The Arcus Estate Pinot Noir is the flagship single-vineyard bottling, drawing from Jory volcanic soils on the Dundee Hills' northeast-facing slope. Premier Pinot Noir is the blend-tier entry. The estate has been owned by E. & J. Gallo since 2013, a corporate acquisition that raised eyebrows among boutique Oregon collectors but has maintained quality. At auction, Archery Summit averages $42 per bottle across 218 lots with a ceiling of $183 — modest pricing that reflects its mid-tier Oregon Pinot position, influenced by corporate ownership and the competitive landscape of Willamette Valley. The Dundee Hills' Jory volcanic soils are unique in producing both concentrated, iron-rich reds and naturally structured whites — a soil chemistry distinct from the sedimentary Willamette soils of the Chehalem Mountains.

In the Glass

Archery Summit Pinot Noir is Dundee Hills Willamette Valley in style: red cherry, black cherry, dried herb, cola, and earthy spice on a medium-bodied frame with polished acidity. Arcus Estate shows the most structure and mineral complexity from Jory volcanic soils; Renegade Ridge is more delicate and perfumed. The style bridges the gap between delicate Burgundy-inspired Oregon and California's fuller-bodied approach.
