Château Fuissé

Château Fuissé is the flagship estate of Pouilly-Fuissé, with origins traceable to the early 17th century and continuous Vincent family ownership since 1862. Antoine Vincent, representing the fifth generation, has led the estate since 2003 and overseen a significant expansion of its reputation, particularly following Pouilly-Fuissé's elevation to include Premier Cru classifications in 2020. The estate covers over 40 hectares with 25 in Pouilly-Fuissé across more than 100 individual plots, making it the appellation's largest single proprietor. The showpiece is Le Clos, a 2.68-hectare monopole at the heart of the Fuissé village, classified Premier Cru in 2020, which has been in the estate since 1862. Antoine has modernised the winery while preserving traditional barrel-aging methods, producing Chardonnay of unusual depth and aging capacity for the Mâconnais. At auction, Tête de Cru and Le Clos represent the most sought-after Pouilly-Fuissé, trading at $60–$180 per bottle — exceptional value for wines of this quality.

Le Clos is Château Fuissé's 2.68-hectare monopole classified as Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru in 2020; the vineyard has been in continuous Vincent family ownership since 1862 and represents the single finest site in Fuissé village.
Antoine Vincent — fifth generation — has led the estate since 2003 and overseen the appellation's Premier Cru reclassification campaign, which in 2020 finally gave Pouilly-Fuissé the same formal hierarchy as the Côte d'Or.
The estate farms over 40 hectares with more than 100 individual plots in Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, and Mâcon, making it the largest proprietor in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation by a significant margin.
Parts of the main Château building date to the 15th century; the estate has been making wine since at least 1604, giving it one of the longest documented histories of any Mâconnais domaine.

In the Glass

Château Fuissé produces the richest, most structured expression of Pouilly-Fuissé — full-bodied Chardonnay with ripe stone fruit, hazelnut, and a distinctly mineral finish from the estate's limestone-clay soils. Le Clos monopole is the most concentrated and age-worthy, capable of developing complexity over 10–15 years. Tête de Cru from a selection of oldest vines shows additional depth and length that challenges many Côte de Beaune village wines.
