Jacky Truchot

Jacky Truchot was a Morey-Saint-Denis vigneron who retired in 2007, selling or returning his parcels — including significant holdings in Clos de la Roche Grand Cru and multiple Morey premier crus — to other estates. The cellar has never been replicated. His wines, made with minimal intervention and sometimes extreme use of whole clusters, are now among the most coveted Burgundies on the secondary market. Average prices of $2,336 across 275 lots — with a floor of $440 and a ceiling of $8,125 — place Truchot firmly in ultra-premium territory alongside DRC and Leroy. Clos de la Roche averages $3,477 from 36 lots, with 1996 as the most sought vintage. Multiple Vieilles Vignes bottlings (Morey, Chambolle, Gevrey) average between $1,165 and $2,872 depending on appellation. Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers averages $1,661 from 31 lots; Morey-Saint-Denis Les Blanchards averages $1,621 from 17 lots; Morey Les Sorbes averages $1,711 from 11 lots. The 2005 vintage dominates trading across virtually every bottling — his penultimate full harvest before retirement. With no successor having replicable parcel access or stylistic continuity, prices have appreciated consistently as the finite supply circulates through secondary market channels. Collectors treat Truchot bottles as irreplaceable museum pieces of a vanished Morey-Saint-Denis vinification tradition that younger vignerons can reference but not recreate.

Clos de la Roche Grand Cru averages $3,477 at auction across 36 lots — among the highest per-bottle averages for any Burgundy producer.
Overall portfolio average is $2,336 from 275 lots, with a ceiling of $8,125 for prime condition Clos de la Roche in magnum.
2005 is the most frequently traded vintage across all bottlings — his penultimate full vintage before 2007 retirement.
Post-retirement, no equivalent has replaced his style; prices have consistently appreciated as collectors recognise the finite supply.

In the Glass

Truchot's Pinot Noirs are marked by whole-cluster fermentation — stem spice, forest floor, violets, and dark fruit are woven together with exceptional transparency to site. Clos de la Roche delivers the most power and grip; Chambolle Les Sentiers the most perfumed and silky expression. All wines show remarkable freshness and aromatic lift even in older vintages, with none of the over-extraction that characterised many 1980s and 1990s Burgundies.
