Olivier Bernstein is a négociant-éleveur based in Gevrey-Chambertin who established his label in 2007, sourcing fruit through long-term leases on grand cru and premier cru parcels. Bernstein, formerly a wine merchant, was mentored by Christophe Roumier and applies a meticulous approach: severe sorting, partial whole-cluster fermentation, and ageing in 50–80% new oak. His grands crus — Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Bonnes Mares, and Mazis-Chambertin — are the auction focal points, each produced in quantities of just 100–200 cases. Across 491 lots, the estate averages $347 per bottle, with prices reaching $2,629. The Chambertin-Clos de Bèze from 2012, 2015, and 2017 has earned scores of 97–99 points from Burghound, Vinous, and Wine Advocate, triggering rapid appreciation on the secondary market since release. Bonnes Mares shows the Morey-Saint-Denis side of the grand cru's muscular character, while Mazis-Chambertin offers more structured, iron-edged Gevrey typicity.
