About Saumur-Champigny
Saumur-Champigny is the red-wine AOC of the Saumur district in the Loire Valley. The district is known for traditional-method sparkling wine and for reds made mainly from Cabernet Franc, with Chenin blanc for whites. Other Saumur appellations cover white, rosé, sweet and sparkling wines. Every August, the Grandes Tablées du Saumur-Champigny sets up more than a kilometre of tables in Saumur for tasting local food and wine.
