About Lenswood
Lenswood is one of two official sub-regions of the Adelaide Hills wine region, along with Piccadilly Valley. The village, east of Adelaide, is the most recently founded township in the Adelaide Hills. It was proclaimed in 1917 and named after a battle near Lens in France. Orchards replaced the original stringybark timber and still dominate, supplying apples, pears and cherries. Vineyards are a more recent addition.
