About Barossa
Barossa is a wine zone just north-east of metropolitan Adelaide that holds two regions, the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. The valley is hot and dry and famous for Shiraz. Its white grapes grow on cooler hillsides, and Grenache and Mourvèdre are rising. Eden Valley, including its High Eden sub-region, lies higher on rockier, more acidic soils with a cooler, wetter climate. It is known for Riesling and for Henschke's Hill of Grace vineyard, with Shiraz vines over 140 years old. Because the zone covers both, wines blended from the two may be labelled 'Barossa'.
