About Carlisle
Carlisle Winery & Vineyards grew out of garage winemaking by a software developer named Mike and his wife Kendall Carlisle, who moved to Santa Rosa to be near Sonoma's old vineyards and were making some 300 cases of mostly old-vine Zinfandel by 1997. Their first commercial vintage, in 1998, ran to 650 cases, and the same year they bought the Pelletti Ranch, planted in 1927, which became Carlisle Vineyard. College friend Jay Maddox joined as winemaker in 2001, and the couple left their careers in 2004. The label specialises in vineyard-designated old-vine Zinfandel and Rhône reds, and in 2013 it moved from custom crush into its own winery.
