About Chateau Montrose
Château Montrose is a Second Growth of 1855 in Saint-Estèphe, the most easterly of the leading Médoc communes, with vines on gravel and black sand over clay and marl that look out over the Gironde. Its blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and some Cabernet Franc, and the wines are known for firm tannins that can need two decades in good years. The 1970 placed third among the reds at the 1976 Paris tasting, and Robert Parker scored 1990, 2009 and 2010 at 100 points. Olivier and Martin Bouygues have owned it since 2006. It also makes La Dame de Montrose and Tertio de Montrose.
