About Domaine Leroy
The Leroy story begins in 1868, when François Leroy set up the Maison Leroy négociant house in Auxey-Duresses near Meursault. His son Joseph expanded it and in 1942 bought Jacques Chambon's half share of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti; Joseph's son Henri helped run the business from 1919. Lalou Bize-Leroy became managing director in 1971 and, in 1988, bought Charles Noëllat's vineyards to create Domaine Leroy for wines from the family's own holdings, farmed biodynamically from the start. The domaine covers about 22 ha, largely premier and grand crus such as Chambertin, Musigny, Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, and produces around 40,000 bottles a year.
