About Paul Hobbs
Paul Hobbs grew up as one of eleven children on a family orchard in upstate New York, part of which he helped his father convert to vines. After a chemistry degree at Notre Dame and a master's in viticulture and enology from UC Davis, he joined Robert Mondavi, was picked for the first Opus One team and then made wine at Simi. In 1991 he bought five tons of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon from growers Larry Hyde and Richard Dinner for his own debut releases. He established the Katherine Lindsay Estate in Sebastopol in 1998, first harvested in 2003, and now works eight vineyard sites.
