About St. Helena
St. Helena is a Napa Valley sub-AVA around the town of St. Helena, established in September 1995 after a petition from local vintner Charles Carpy. Charles Krug, a Napa pioneer, founded his winery here in 1861. The AVA covers about 9,060 acres, of which some 6,800 are planted across roughly 400 vineyards. Varieties grown here include Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
