About Edna Valley
Edna Valley is an AVA in San Luis Obispo County, between San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande. It was established in May 1982 as one of the country's first appellations and since 2022 has also been part of the SLO Coast AVA. The valley runs north-west to south-east beside the Santa Lucia Mountains. Pacific breezes and morning fog keep it cool and give it what is described as California's longest growing season. In the 19th century it was dairy country, until vineyards revived in the 1970s. It is best known for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, and Alban Vineyards specialises in Rhône varieties here.
