About Mt. Veeder
Mt. Veeder is a Napa Valley sub-AVA on the western edge of Napa County, in the southern Mayacamas Mountains that separate Napa from Sonoma. It was established in February 1990, with land added in 1993. Until the 1940s the area was known as 'Napa Redwoods'. Its 19th-century vineyards included the Streich family's Castle Rock, planted in 1881. Today the AVA includes Mayacamas Vineyards and Sky Vineyards. About 1,000 acres are planted on loam, clay loam and stony soils, to Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and many other grapes.
