About Sea Smoke
Sea Smoke was founded in 1999 with the purchase of a south-facing property in the Sta. Rita Hills, north of Santa Barbara, long eyed by local growers. Its first vintage was released in 2001. The estate began organic farming in 2005, applied biodynamic methods to part of the vineyard and extended them across the estate over the following decade. Its 172 acres are cooled by the evening marine fog, or 'sea smoke', that drifts up the Santa Ynez River canyon. The range includes the Grand, Ten and Southing Pinot Noirs, an estate Chardonnay and Sea Spray sparkling wine.
